Egypt Is Breaking Beauty Standards

Egypt Is Breaking Beauty Standards

All bodies are beautiful. Everyone is perfect just the way they are!

What is “beauty”?

The textbook definition; Beauty is a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases aesthetic senses, especially sight.

What is beauty to us?

Fair skin? Being a size ZERO? Having perfectly straight hair? Does that qualify you to be A PERFECT WOMAN?

In Egypt it is a bit different. Natural beauty has been desired for centuries. No one has ever wanted or needed to be”skinny or have the fairest skin” to be considered “beautiful”, but it has been desired to be a fair toned-woman, with sleek black hair, perfect skin and a perfect curvy body. Just like when Cleopatra and Nefertiti roamed the earth. Nowadays, beauty comes in ALL SHAPESCOLORS AND SIZES!

To name a few powerful women, Mona Zaki, Nelly Karim, Mena Shalaby, Tara Emad, Salma Aboudeif, and Nancy Ajram.

AN epic example for breaking beauty standards noways;

our very own, Ameni esseibi is the first ever ARAB Curvy Model.

Ameni has a voice and she will be heard! She is an Arab woman that is not afraid to eat a little more and enjoy her life while she pursues her modeling career. The world is changing & for the better!

A beautiful woman.

A beautiful human.

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

That is the most common saying used when “beauty” is discussed. Our facade of what is considered or should be considered “beautiful” is ever-changing. A woman does not need to be super skinny, have straight hair and fair skin. A woman can have crazy curls and a few curves here and there and be A REAL WOMAN. BE COMFORTABLE IN YOUR OWN SKIN.

Requirements to becoming a model isn’t the same! Becoming a model isn’t just because you want to take pretty pictures and become famous, nowadays woman become models to become role models for a younger audience. Women activists, speakers, and LEADERS!

“Beauty is not perceived the way it used to be. Beauty now IS subjective, difficult to define to say the least. It is being beautiful on the inside and OUT. It is being humane, it is being NATURAL. THAT IS HOW WE SHOULD BREAK BEAUTY STANDARDS.”

-Zena Al Arab
