UKinEgypt launches #BetterThanPlastic Challenge
Celebrities are taking Instagram and Twitter by storm, taking part in the latest challenge #BetterThanPlastic initiated by The British Embassy in Cairo. Supporting a great cause, the embassy started challenging celebrities through social media channels to stay for 1 WEEK without using any plastic products and substituting it with other recyclable ones.
The great initiative is due to the latest incidents harming our environment as plastic does not decompose. Instead, it breaks into smaller pieces, which can leak toxic chemicals into groundwater, which are absorbed by plants, and make the way into our food chain. Also, the way the Embassy made it into a challenge makes it even more fun, as people started participating with their photos and great ideas to eliminate this pollution.
To name a few these celebrities were challenged: Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’, Hazem Ehab, Elisa Sednaoui, Ahmed Hatem, Dana Hamdan, Jory Bakr and even Robbie Keane.
